Director of Housing
Mindy Wright joined the Lorain County Urban League in August, 2003 as the Housing Program Director. In this capacity, Mindy currently oversees the following programs for the LCUL:
- HUD Comprehensive Housing Counseling Program
- National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program
- State of Ohio’s Restoring Stability Program to provide financial resources to struggling homeowners
- Fair Housing Program to include workshops and landlord/tenant advice and referrals
- First-time Home-buyer Program
Participant Portfolio Specialist
Brisco Odom joined the Lorain County Urban League in May, 2012 as a community base work experience client from the Veteran Rehabilitation program, assisting in the area of data entry. He later transitioned into the Participant Portfolio Specialist position where he is currently working with the NUL UYEP WORKS program.
Prior to coming to LCUL, Mr. Odom was a Field Engineer with Clover Technologies of Wixom, Michigan. He brings to the Urban League a joyful spirit and great organizational skill.
Gloria Simpson joined the Lorain County Urban League in December 2010, as a volunteer in the education department. Gloria assisted in the Read and Rise Program and helped out in the office as needed. She later transitioned into the employment department when the opportunity became available. Gloria’s job responsibilities include meeting with customers, doing initial intake, assisting them with preparing a resume and a cover letter. Ms. Simpson also works with customers throughout the job search process; she makes employment referrals; provides pre-employment workshops, and post-employment follow-up activities. Above all, Gloria connects individuals who are looking for work to a network that includes sponsors of seasonal job fairs and potential employers.
Prior to coming to the Lorain County Urban League, Ms. Simpson was a Patient Account Representative for Community Health Partners. She is a graduate of Cleveland State University and Lorain County Community College. Gloria is also a local playwright, writing, directing, marketing, performing, and staging approximately 9 different plays throughout the state of Ohio.
Ruthie Wilson joined the Lorain County Urban League in June, 2012 as a student intern from the Lorain JVS Adult Career Program, assisting in all areas of administration. She later transitioned into the Office Assistant position where she is currently working with the NUL Occupy the Vote campaign and is an administrative assistant to the Director of Programs.
Prior to coming to LCUL, Ms. Wilson was a human resource assistant and an office assistant within the Lorain and Cuyahoga counties. She brings to the Urban League a big smile and bubbly personality.
Housing Intake Specialist
Housing Specialist, Pamela Leftrict, joined the Lorain County Urban League in October 2013. Pam works with Mindy Wright and Larisa Staruch in the Housing Department. Pam handles intake services for homeowners seeking assistance through the foreclosure prevention programs available through the Lorain County Urban League. Having obtained a vast array of employment experiences, she is committed to influencing the success of the community service, social welfare and self-help programs that are sustained by the Urban League.
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Pam is a graduate of Wright State University. She resides in Elyria with her husband and two sons. She enjoys spending time with her family, travel and reading. Pam serves as a member and officer of the Lorain County Urban League Guild.
