The LEAP II & STEP-UP Program serves our community by providing training and employment assistance leading to greater prosperity for individuals and families.
The goal of this program is to: Insure that adults 17 & up secure training and employment in the building trades arena leading to gainful employment in the building trades industry.
Key services provided through LCUL LEAP II & STEP-UP program includes:
- Case management services throughout the training and employment phases;
- Orientation to the building trades with paid training experiences leading to employment;
- Career Exploration and related training at Lorain County Community College;
- Construction tools experience via construction trades community service and employment;
- Regular one-on-one and group consultations to discuss goals, progress, and training needs;
- Resume and job search assistance throughout experience in the LEAP II & STEP-UP Program;
- Supportive services to include transportation, tools acquisition and apprenticeship acquisition/employment;
- Securing of recommendations from contractors, trainers and employers familiar with employment progress;
- Transfer of LCJFS mandatory community service requirements to LCUL;
- Provision of 144 hours of related training (OSHA, masonry, carpentry, blue print reading, etc.) paid for by LCUL
Note: The OCUL LEAP II & STEP-UP program is approved by the USDOL, BAT, USDHUD, Office of Labor
Development and Ohio Apprenticeship Council as a legitimate apprenticeship training program.
