The Vision of the LCUL in this area of our work is that:
- Minority and other LCUL clients have equal access to applicable training,
- Receive equal pay for equal work,
- Benefit from adequate career path development and continuous education, and
- Strong relationships with employers leads to increased access to available positions.
LCUL has established employment referral relationships with several companies in the region. Through these arrangements we are able to pre-qualify some clients who match the needs of the employers before we make referrals.
We help clients to:
- Determine what they already know or need help learning (Assessments) - this is done in conjunction with the Workforce Institute of Lorain County;
- Prepare resumes and evaluate their work experiences and skill sets
- Practice interviewing skills through simulated mock interviews
- Get their foot in the door with employers through Job Placements with 72 employers currently working with LCUL staff;
- Gain additional job skills through training
In addition to the above we also provide
- Referral and follow-up services;
- Job Fairs and conferences
- Community re-entry preparation in collaboration with the prison system;
- Other support services through a variety of LCUL programs and partner agencies.
- We have two Employment Specialists who work out of the Employment Network and Workforce Institute facility, which is located at 42495 North Ridge Road in Elyria. Walk-in Monday to Friday.
- You can also contact us at 440-323-3364 to make an appointment to meet with one of the Specialists.
