Education

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
- Nelson Mandela

The Lorain County Urban League continues to be an advocate for education reform that ensures that all children are well educated and prepared for the challenges of the 21st century. LCUL offers a pathway to success from Early Childhood Literacy to Career Exploration that provides a number of enriching opportunities for students to learn, grow and thrive. LCUL is also an advocate for making the schools parent-friendly. As is the case with all of our programs, we continue to demonstrate "what works" by implementing a Family Literacy Program that provides training and continuous learning opportunities for parents.

In addition to speaking up locally, LCUL has also hosted some nationally known education advocates such as the world renowned Pediatric Neurosurgeon, Dr. Benjamin Carson, Marc Morial, the President of the National Urban League, and Dr. Howard Fuller, PhD, Past Superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools System.
