Board Chair Message

Hello. My name is Joe N. Faga and I am the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lorain County Urban League. On behalf of my fellow Board Members and our dedicated Staff, welcome to our website. I have lived and worked in this community for 21 of the past 36 years. Many of you might know me as the Area Manager for Ohio Edison/FirstEnergy, a job I have enjoyed for many years. However, very few things in life give me as much pleasure as being able to give back to the community by volunteering on behalf of such a worthy organization as this one.

Urban League, our programs are designed to give people the help and encouragement when they need it the most. Some examples include:

• Housing programs that are tailored to help families stay together by avoiding foreclosure on their homes.
• Education programs that help kids learn how to read, graduate from high school and have an opportunity to attend college.
• Employment programs that offer assistance to adults who are looking for work in this tough economy.
• Health programs that provide individuals and families with diabetes prevention workshops, health screenings, exercise venues, healthy eating tips, and innovative health strategies leading to longer and healthier lives.

We here at the Urban League invite individuals, organizations, and businesses in this community to support the vital work we do.
